File is ground Sasafrass leaves used to thicken and flavor gumbo. It is meant to be used very sparingly. Although our friend that used to make it has passed on, we still want to get it out to you.

Where I live it's difficult to find fresh southern herbs and spices. This file' is perfect and reminds me of my mommas cooking!
